Details: hand produced 1/72 hex based game.

AirWar: 1918

Author: David Manley & Matthew Hartley

Publisher: Wessex Games

Details: miniatures game designed for use with 1/72 to 1/300 scale models.

Blue Max

Author: Phillip M. Hall and Allan Wright

Publisher: Games Design Workshop

Details: popular board game but often used as a set of hex-based minaitures with 1/72 and 1/144 scale models.

Availability: currently out of print, but the rules are available on the web here.

Dawn Patrol

Author: Mike Carr

Details: boardgame released in 1982, essentially a 7th edition of Fight For The Skies (see below) with a new title. Interesting in that the game boasts its own society and player magazine (Aerodrome).

Availability: out of print, but an 8th edition is planned to be released by M. C. Futures, Inc. sometime in the future.

Dogfight Over Flanders

Publisher: Tabletop Games

Details: 1/144 scale miniatures rules, developed by members of Penarth & District Wargames Society. The club won "Best Participation Game" at the Colours show with these rules.

Fight In The Skies

Author: Mike Carr

Publisher: Wargame Inventors Guild, Guidon, TSR

Details: classic WW1 boardgame developed from 1/72 miniatures game in the late 1960's. Five editions were published by various companies until re-branded as Dawn Patrol by TSR in 1982.

Hostile Aircraft

Author: Brian Redddington-Wilde

Publisher: Goblintooth Enterprises

Details: covering the period 1915 - 20 and designed for 1/285th aircraft, Hostile Aircraft (2nd edition) won the 1996 Origins Award for Best Historical Miniatures Rules. The game came with a number of 1/285 miniatures.

Availability: Currently out of print following demise of Goblintooth Enterprises.
